La Serenissima/Adrian Chandler
Avie
This is, according to Robert Maxham in Fanfare, "an almost ideal survey of Vivaldi in his role as celebrated violinist-composer, opera composer, and impresario". On MusicWeb, Glyn Pursglove says "this British group matches up to the
standards the Italian Vivaldians have
set in recent years, in performances
which are richly communicative and committed...
clearly the work of musicians utterly
at home with Vivaldi". Ardella Crawford in American Record Guide admits "I was a little skeptical about this release; at first glance it looks like a hodge-podge of sorts... But it is a magnificent recording... This is vintage Vivaldi".
